Steve Parks began employment with ERMC in April of 2007 after his retirement from the Chattanooga Police Department as the Chief of Police. Mayor Bob Corker appointed Steve Parks as Chief of Police for the City of Chattanooga on February 1, 2004. Chief Parks supervised 665 employees, including 470 sworn officers. Prior to his appointment he served as Deputy Chief over Investigations and Support Services for 3 ½ years.
During his 28-year tenure with the Chattanooga Police Department he served as Sector 2 Commander in Uniform Services for one year, Commanding Officer over Internal Affairs for eleven years, head of the Police Personnel Division for two years, and worked patrol for eight years. Chief Parks received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1978. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Association of Internal Affairs Investigators and ASIS International.
He is married to Diane S. Parks, who is Director of Leadership Chattanooga with the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. They have one daughter, Janie, who is attending Law School.
